IT/OT Systems Engineer

Role Overview

Workplace and Schedule

• The role is fully on-site in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
• Off-shift availability and regional travel may be required to support production and distribution center schedules.

Infrastructure and Site Support

• Serve as the on-site technical bridge across factory operations, infrastructure teams, managed services, and third-party machine vendors.
• Coordinate network provisioning and configuration while handling hands-on PC and endpoint setup and support.
• Maintain site-specific network architecture documentation and asset inventories.

Cybersecurity and Compliance

• Lead on-site vulnerability remediation, patching, and compliance actions around production schedules.
• Validate VLAN boundaries and firewall rules to maintain IT/OT network segmentation.
• Manage compensating controls for legacy or unpatchable equipment and support access reviews.

Applications and Operations

• Diagnose application performance issues affecting production and distribution center operations.
• Administer factory-specific applications and services supporting production-critical systems.
• Coordinate security requirements with machine vendors and managed service providers.

Technology Enablement

• Gather audit evidence and support multifactor authentication, endpoint hardening, and other company-wide security initiatives.
• Support IIoT, OT communication protocols, edge computing, data analytics, and cloud-connected OT infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

• Technical degree or at least 3 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience.
• Working knowledge of VLANs, switching, basic firewall concepts, vulnerability remediation, patching, and compliance activities.
• Experience with IT/OT segmentation, production environments, and on-site technical troubleshooting.
• Ability to work fully on-site, provide off-shift availability, and travel regionally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• IT infrastructure experience in manufacturing, industrial, plant, distribution center, or research and development environments.
• Experience with production-critical applications, network documentation, asset inventories, privileged access, audits, or legacy equipment controls.
• Knowledge of IIoT, OT protocols, edge computing, data analytics, and cloud-connected OT infrastructure.
