Role overview

Strategy and investment evaluation

• Develop investment strategies aligned with corporate objectives, risk appetite, capital requirements, and long-term growth plans.
• Identify opportunities across industries, asset classes, business ventures, and strategic markets; conduct market, industry, competitive, and economic analysis.
• Lead financial, commercial, operational, legal, and strategic due diligence.
• Build financial models, valuations, cash flow projections, and scenarios using DCF, comparable company analysis, IRR, and NPV.
• Set evaluation criteria, approval frameworks, performance benchmarks, and risk assessment procedures.
• Prepare proposals, business cases, investment memoranda, and recommendations for senior management or investment committees.

Portfolio, transactions, and leadership

• Oversee capital allocation and monitor portfolio performance, returns, valuations, and financial exposure against targets.
• Optimize portfolios through diversification, concentration-risk management, and improved risk-adjusted returns.
• Lead negotiations involving investments, partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, and other capital deployment opportunities.
• Evaluate M&A, expansion, equity investments, partnerships, and strategic asset acquisitions; structure transactions with Finance, Legal, Tax, and external advisers.
• Build relationships with investors, financial institutions, private equity and venture capital firms, advisers, and strategic partners.
• Monitor macroeconomic conditions, interest rates, markets, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting investment decisions.

Risk, monitoring, and reporting

• Establish risk frameworks covering market exposure, liquidity, counterparty risk, valuation uncertainty, and other relevant risks.
• Ensure investment activities follow applicable regulations, governance requirements, internal policies, and investment mandates.
• Oversee post-investment monitoring, performance reviews, strategic execution, and value-creation initiatives.
• Identify ways to improve operations, financial outcomes, and value from existing investments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop investment professionals, analysts, and portfolio management teams.
• Coordinate investment projects against approved budgets, timelines, and objectives; present reports, portfolio reviews, market outlooks, and recommendations to executives or the board.
• Evaluate emerging sectors, business models, and markets; maintain investment documentation, decision records, reporting standards, and monitoring procedures.

Required experience and capabilities

• Proven investment management, corporate finance, private equity, venture capital, asset management, or related investment leadership experience.
• Demonstrated success evaluating opportunities, executing transactions, and delivering measurable investment outcomes.
• Strong expertise in investment analysis, financial modeling, valuation, portfolio management, and capital allocation.
• Extensive financial due diligence, commercial assessment, risk analysis, and feasibility study experience.
• Knowledge of IRR, NPV, ROI, cash flow analysis, risk-adjusted returns, investment risk, diversification, capital preservation, and governance.
• Experience evaluating M&A, joint ventures, equity investments, partnerships, or other investment transactions.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical and quantitative ability, strategic thinking, negotiation, and decision-making.
• Familiarity with financial modeling tools, valuation software, investment research platforms, and relevant financial information systems.
• Leadership and team management experience, including guiding analysts and multidisciplinary transaction teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, relationship-building, and ability to explain financial analysis to senior leaders and investment committees.
• Understanding of securities regulation, financial compliance, corporate governance, and transaction documentation; high integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professional judgment.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Investment Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• CFA, CAIA, or other relevant finance and investment credentials are a plus.
• Experience with substantial portfolios, cross-border transactions, institutional investments, or regional investment strategies is an added advantage.
