Indirects Estimator
Role Overview
The Indirects Estimator develops the construction indirect cost for large EPC estimates, from early conceptual pricing through Class 3 submittals and leadership reviews. The role builds and maintains the project indirects workbook, converts quantities, schedule and staffing inputs into indirect hours and cost, and keeps the indirects consistent with the professional services staffing plan and the estimate summary. The estimator reconciles changes between estimate revisions, benchmarks results against other projects, and presents the indirects in management reviews. The role works closely with construction, site management, commissioning and start-up, subcontracts, procurement and the project management team. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-SM2 Major Responsibilities: Indirects Builds and maintains the project indirects workbook for construction indirect accounts, including temporary facilities, site services, construction equipment, and scaffolding. Develops indirect hours and costs using quantities, schedule durations, shift patterns, and craft curves. Loads construction inputs and Proscope exports into the workbook. Reviews hours, durations, and peak headcount for reasonableness and resolves inconsistencies with the construction team before inclusion in the estimate. Prices indirect subcontracts and site services, including medical, waste management, and drug and alcohol testing, using vendor quotes and allowances. Aligns each quote to the appropriate cost account. Provides craft and site staff headcount assumptions to procurement and project teams for sizing site service orders. Reviews wage bulletins, incentive programs, and assignment conditions to determine which costs are included in indirects and which are carried in craft rates. Overall Aligns the indirects workbook with the professional services staffing plan, craft wage basis, and estimate summary, and explains identified differences. Reconciles indirects between estimate revisions by cost account, separating scope changes from estimate refinements for waterfalls and leadership reporting. Benchmarks indirects against other projects and business units using measures such as indirect-to-direct hours, while accounting for differences in scope. Prepares estimate basis documentation, assumptions, staffing and craft curves, and review materials for project management, functional, and leadership reviews. Presents indirects during these reviews. Controls scope against the approved estimate basis by routing new requests through trend or management approval processes. Maintains version control of estimate files, including frozen copies for each submittal and review. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
