Responsibilities

• The Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager is responsible for managing the direct day to day onsite HSSE operational requirements.
• Advise, guide and support project managers in the implementation of HSSE practices both on site and within the site office environment.
• Arrange all HSSE training and orientation requirements in line with active HSSE training programs and identified training needs.
• Evaluate all Contractors’ HSSE Plan submittals to confirm it meets or exceeds the project HSSE Program requirements.
• Facilitate and chair frequent dedicated onsite HSSE coordination meeting amongst all Contractors.
• Review all HSSE statistical data on a daily, weekly, monthly, half yearly and/or yearly basis as and when received from Contractors, and prepare periodic data analysis reports on findings.
• Participate in Reportable Occurrence Investigations and lead on the implementation of subsequent corrective action recommendations.
• Evaluate and provide HSSE comments for Contractors’ method statements and risk assessments and work permit submittals.
• Maintain a documented HSSE operational audit system and program, in conjunction with the HSSE audit team, to provide for regular internal self-audits, Contractor audits and coordinating possible external and/or 3rd Party audits.
• Conducts regular site tours of assigned Contractor worksites and evaluate operational HSSE inspection reporting functions to accordingly initiate improvements as required.
• Monitor policies and procedures and report any areas where improvement is required.
• Implements the prescriptions and requirements of the project HSSE Program, review its effectiveness and suggest continual improvement as and when required.
• Advise Senior Leadership of HSSE issues related to new/existing projects and advise on HSSE compliance needs.
• Perform any other jobs as may be assigned by the superiors.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSSE and Fire & Safety Management Systems.
• 12 or above years’ experience in Health, Safety, Security and Environment.
• Additional Certification in the sphere of HSSE or related areas, including Behavioural Safety Management will be an asset NEBOSH – Environmental Certification and/or Health and Safety Certification.
• ISO – Environmental and/or Health and Safety ISO (or similar) Standards Lead Auditor certifications.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal & written), ability to interface and communicate with Authorities.
• High proficiency in HSSE, and general, computer systems / software, e.g. Microsoft Office, programming, data analysis, etc.
