The Responsibility And Accountability Of An HoD Are Described Below

The Head of Department (HoD) coordinates the academic and administrative functions of the department. As the elected representative of the faculty, the HoD is entrusted with advancing the department’s best interests by fostering collective faculty decision-making, ensuring transparency in governance, safeguarding curriculum quality, supporting faculty development, and effectively representing departmental perspectives within the college and the wider university.

The Head of Department represents and ensures the well-being of the department faculty, and promotes an environment that supports faculty members and students in their efforts to succeed.

In carrying out these responsibilities, the Head of Department engages in collaborative leadership with the faculty according to the AUS shared governance model of academic administration.

The School of Business Administration enrolls over 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students. QS World University Subject Rankings 2025 has named AUS number two (tied) in the UAE and among the top 300 universities globally for business and management studies, number one in the UAE (tied) and among the top 250 universities globally for accounting and finance, and number one (tied) in the UAE and top 400 universities globally in the category of economics and econometrics. The school offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with majors in accounting, economics, finance, information systems and business analytics, management, marketing and supply chain management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Graduate degrees include the Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Data Analytics, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Economics and Policy, Master of Science in Finance, PhD in Finance and PhD in Management.

The school has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since April 2011.
