About This Role
We are hiring a Head of Department (Structural Design) for a client in Dubai.
Role Overview: The Head of Structural Design will lead the structural engineering function, delivering high-quality, safe, cost-effective, and constructible structural solutions for tenders and live projects. The role involves developing design strategies, managing internal teams and external consultants, and ensuring seamless integration between design and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise internal structural teams and external consultants.
- Review and approve all structural designs, calculations, and deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership across tender, ECI, and execution phases.
- Drive value engineering and manage design risks and opportunities.
- Ensure designs optimize safety, constructability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with tender, methods, and site teams for integrated solutions.
- Manage resources, workloads, budgets, and team development.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen the department’s technical capabilities.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in structural engineering within construction.
- Extensive experience in complex concrete and steel structures (permanent & temporary works).
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis and modeling software.
- Solid knowledge of international codes (Eurocodes, ACI, BS, etc.).
- Proven track record on Design & Build projects with strong design-site coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
