Qualifications

  • Grounds Maintenance Associate I
  • The grade for this position is A12(2). Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered.
  • Grounds Maintenance Associate II
  • The grade for this position is A13(2). Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of grounds maintenance experience
  • Driver's license
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
  • The grade for this position is A12(2).
  • The grade for this position is A13(2).

Responsibilities

  • Grounds Maintenance Associate I
  • Maintaining turf (natural and synthetic) on athletic fields, dragging baseball field infields, and changing home plates and base anchors
  • Operating irrigation systems and performing minor repairs
  • Maintaining passive areas, mulching islands, and applying playground mulch
  • Operating tractors and commercial zero-turn mowers
  • Operating small engine equipment (backpack blowers, edgers, and string trimmers)
  • Inspecting park assets, including playgrounds, for safety standards
  • Applying herbicides (pre- and post-emergent) and fertilizers
  • Picking up trash, recyclables, and other debris from grounds
  • Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment, chain link fencing/gates
  • Cleaning, mopping, and maintaining supplies in department and community facilities
  • Assisting co-workers and other departments with special projects such as setting up and taking down for events, performing equipment maintenance, and other activities as needed
  • Reporting incidents to leadership
  • Providing maintenance reports
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level
  • Grounds Maintenance Associate II
  • Assisting with the design of trails and landscapes, and planting trees, shrubs, and flowers
  • Performing minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing repairs and other maintenance on facilities, equipment, and chain link fencing/gates
