Qualifications

• Training and Experience (positions in this class require): • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent education • One year of law enforcement experience. Licensing Requirements (positions in this class require): • Must be P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer. • Valid Driver’s License from state of residency. • Must be 21 years of age. Some positions may require: • Valid Commercial Driver’s License
• Knowledge of:
• Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations;
• Report preparation procedures;
• Customer service principles;
• Department policies and procedures;
• Use of force principles;
• Weapon procedures;
• County geography;
• Self-defense techniques.
• Skill in:
• Applying and enforcing applicable laws, rules and regulations;
• Performing investigations;
• Qualifying with a weapon;
• Securing and analyzing crime scenes;
• Operating a vehicle;
• Preparing reports;
• Operating a computer and applicable software;
• Analyzing situations;
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
• Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.
• This position may require: 24 hour on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.
