Government Relations Manager

We are looking for a Government Relations Manager to be based across our Dubai and Abu Dhabi locations.

Reporting to the Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, this role is key in driving our growth in the region; fostering relationships with key contacts and ensuring alignment between our company and the UAE's long term vision.

Key activities and competencies

Strategic

  • Develop and maintain relationships with government authorities to facilitate smooth permitting and planning of Abu Dhabi projects.

Operational

  • Plan and lead meetings with municipalities, local authorities and agencies.
  • Develop and follow up specific applications and approvals.

Organizational

  • Coordinate between Engie project team and local authorities, government and agencies.

Planning & Delivery Of Work

  • Plan and manage government relations activities, including securing special licenses and permits.
  • Coordinate with relevant agencies to arrange in-house and external events, meetings, and other functions.
  • Key relationships

Internal

  • Project teams (BD, construction, legal, HR departments)

External

  • Governmental and non-governmental authorities, specifically Abu Dhabi and Al Ain municipality authorities.
  • Other agencies and advisors, contractors, customs and permitting authorities.

Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma/Bachelor's degree in business administration, communication, legal or a related field.

Experience

  • At least five years of experience working as a Relationship Manager or in a similar role in the Abu Dhabi governmental or government related entities.
  • Project and construction related experience dealing with key stakeholders and ensuring administrative steps are dealt with timely and efficiently.
  • Proven experience in public relations and a strong understanding of project documents and local UAE laws.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • In-depth understanding of office management procedures and departmental and legal policies.
  • Proficiency with UAE government processes (including familiarity with CICPA processes)
  • Understanding of complex project structure with multiparty and involving international and local stakeholders.
  • Understanding of typical construction related issues with an ability to preempt and resolve issues when they arise
