Role overview
The GIS Specialist supports GIS projects through spatial data collection, processing, analysis, visualization, map production, and geodatabase management.
The role works with project and technical teams and requires technical knowledge of GIS platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, organize, validate, and maintain geospatial and attribute data.
- Create maps, dashboards, and GIS-based reports; perform spatial analysis, geoprocessing, conversion, and data quality checks.
- Manage geodatabases and GIS datasets, including vector and raster data from multiple sources.
- Support GIS-to-enterprise-system integration and coordinate transformations; maintain spatial data accuracy.
- Assist with GIS applications and web maps; support field data collection and integration when required.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and technical deliverables; coordinate with teams and clients on GIS needs.
- Ensure data meets project standards and provide technical support for GIS project activities.
Qualifications and required skills
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Surveying, Geospatial Engineering, or a related discipline; 1–3 years of relevant GIS experience.
- Good knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Enterprise; experience with spatial analysis, geoprocessing, map production, and geodatabase management.
- Understand coordinate systems, projections, spatial data formats, and Web GIS concepts and applications.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office; analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication skills in Arabic and English.
Preferred skills
- Experience or familiarity with one or more of ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, Experience Builder, Survey123, QGIS, FME, remote sensing, or GPS/GNSS is advantageous.
- Python/ArcPy, SQL and spatial databases, 3D GIS, Digital Twin, GeoAI, and BIM–GIS integration are also listed as advantageous.
