As a
Senior Flight Dynamics Specialist
you will lead the analysis, modeling, and optimization of aerodynamic performance, stability, and control for advanced UAV platforms.
This role spans the entire development lifecycle—from high-fidelity simulations and wind tunnel testing to post-flight data correlation—ensuring stable and reliable operations across full flight envelopes.
Key Responsibilities
- **Modeling & Simulation:**
- Develop, linearize, and validate full-envelope UAV flight dynamics models using state-space modeling and stability/control derivatives.
- **Testing & Correlation:**
- Design and execute wind tunnel and flight test plans; correlate analytical/CFD models with experimental and flight test data.
- **Performance Analysis:**
- Evaluate aircraft configuration impacts, control surface effectiveness, handling qualities, and stability margins under diverse mission conditions.
- **Data & Optimization:**
- Define instrumentation requirements, analyze transient/steady-state flight behavior, and drive airframe and aerodynamic design optimizations.
- **Documentation:**
- Establish model validation success criteria and author comprehensive technical performance summaries.
Job Specifications & Requirements
- **Education:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
- **Experience:**
- **10+ years**
- in flight dynamics, aerodynamics, or UAV/aerospace system analysis.
- **5+ years**
- dedicated to wind tunnel testing and aerodynamic data analysis.
- **Technical Expertise:**
- Deep understanding of linear/nonlinear aircraft flight dynamics, stability derivatives, and UAV configuration effects (CG, mass properties).
- Proficiency in
JSBSim, MATLAB/Simulink
, and data processing tools (
Python
- ).
- Hands-on experience with system identification, flight test maneuvers (trim, doublet, step, frequency response), and wind tunnel data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace documentation standards for test reporting and validation.
