Firewall Engineer

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and manage next-generation firewalls across the enterprise, including platforms such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, and Cisco.
• Design and implement perimeter strategies covering IDS/IPS, web application firewalls, and secure VPN gateways.
• Monitor traffic for anomalies, lead technical responses to perimeter breaches, and apply immediate countermeasures.
• Develop, audit, and enforce firewall rules, network ACLs, and security policies aligned with standards including ISO 27001 and NESA.
• Work with infrastructure and cloud teams on secure BGP/OSPF routing, switching, and integration of security controls.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, support penetration testing, and manage perimeter security hardware and software lifecycles.

Required qualifications and skills

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on network and perimeter security experience, with a strong background in senior network engineering.
• Deep expertise configuring and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and secure web gateways.
• Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, the OSI model, routing protocols, and network packet analysis.
• Strong analytical skills for complex multi-vendor security incidents under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain security risks to non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership ability to mentor junior engineers and guide cross-functional technical projects.

Preferred certifications

• Active industry certifications are highly preferred, such as CISSP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE 7/8, CCIE/CCNP Security, or Check Point CCSE.

Compensation

• Compensation is AED 18,000–20,000 per month.
