Field Service Engineer - Centrifugal Compressor Specialist

Role overview

Main responsibilities

• Install, commission, and start up centrifugal compressors and associated systems; configure anti-surge controls and optimize performance.
• Lead commissioning, performance testing, and customer acceptance testing.
• Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions; perform preventive maintenance and major 24K and 48K overhauls.
• Diagnose vibration, surge, and performance deviations; provide on-site and remote technical support, including emergency calls.
• Support system upgrades and central controller integration; prepare service reports and maintain intervention records.
• Follow Atlas Copco and customer HSE requirements, including PTW, LMRA, and safe work practices.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of hands-on turbo-compressor experience, preferably with Atlas Copco products or other rotating equipment.
• Strong knowledge of centrifugal compressor theory, performance curves, and operating principles.
• Hands-on gearbox, bearing, rotor, and impeller inspection experience; vibration analysis and rotating-equipment troubleshooting experience.
• Understanding of compressor controls, anti-surge logic, and capacity control; familiarity with central controllers and SMARTLINK is highly preferred.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis, prepare technical reports, interpret drawings, and perform flow and pressure calculations.
• Familiarity with remote monitoring and diagnostic software; knowledge of surge line setup, performance optimization, and commissioning.
• Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills; willingness to travel frequently within the UAE and GCC.
