Provides technical expertise and hands-on support for centrifugal compressors and steam turbines to support safe, reliable, efficient customer equipment operation.
The role involves extensive travel to power plants, oil and gas facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, and industrial sites.
Responsibilities
- Inspect compressors and troubleshoot and diagnose faults.
- Perform major overhauls, maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
- Install and commission compressors, seals, bearings, gearboxes, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct vibration, performance, and mechanical condition assessments.
- Interpret engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and technical documentation.
- Supervise technicians and coordinate field activities during outages and shutdowns.
- Follow safety procedures, permits, and site requirements.
- Prepare technical and service reports and customer recommendations.
- Provide customer technical support and training.
- Coordinate field work with project managers, planners, and workshop teams.
Required skills and knowledge
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, gearboxes, mechanical and dry gas seals, bearings, and lubrication systems.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis, alignment, balancing, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; familiarity with rotating equipment safety practices.
Experience and education
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years of field experience with rotating equipment.
- Experience with compressor OEMs such as MAN, Siemens Energy, Baker Hughes, Elliott, Dresser-Rand, Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand, or similar manufacturers.
- International travel is required; candidate must hold or be able to obtain a valid passport and qualify for work visas in business locations.
