Field Engineer - Mechanical

Role Overview

What You'll Be Doing

• Monitor and supervise mechanical construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, fuel, water, drainage, and other mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve mechanical and construction-related issues.
• Review method statements, inspection requests, material submissions, shop drawings, and work procedures.
• Verify mechanical installations comply with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
• Assist in monitoring schedules and identifying delays, risks, and interface issues.
• Monitor quality control processes and inspection and testing requirements.
• Maintain site records, daily reports, inspection documentation, and progress reports.
• Support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and handover activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
• Assist the Resident Engineer and Construction Manager in delivering project objectives.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction supervision, inspection, or site engineering of mechanical works on major building or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, pumping systems, and other building mechanical services.
• Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and contractor submissions.
• Knowledge of international mechanical codes, standards, and construction best practices.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve site-related mechanical issues effectively.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software.

Desired Skills

• Experience on mega projects, landmark developments, hospitality projects, convention centers, airports, or large mixed-use developments.
• Previous experience within a Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC) environment.
• Familiarity with BIM-enabled project delivery processes and model coordination.
• Knowledge of testing, balancing, commissioning, and handover requirements for mechanical systems.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contractors.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced project environment.
