Role Overview

Baking and Production

• Prepare and bake breads, buns, pastries, cookies, cakes, and other baked products from scratch.
• Measure and mix ingredients accurately and follow recipes and production schedules.
• Operate commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor proofing, baking times, and temperatures.
• Decorate and finish baked goods as required.
• Create and follow menus for baked goods and desserts.

Quality and Service

• Restock pastry shelves and maintain a sufficient, fresh supply of baked goods.
• Ensure consistent food preparation quality while considering special dietary constraints.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production and customer service goals.
• Minimize waste and contribute to cost-control initiatives.

Safety and Cleaning

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
• Clean, wash, and sanitize equipment and work areas.

Inventory

• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering baking ingredients and supplies.

Requirements

• Previous baking experience in a bakery, food service, hotel, restaurant, or institutional setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
• Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Superior verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Food Safe Certification is an asset.
