To prepare accurate project cost estimates for various civil engineering projects and develop competitive, profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals and submit them to clients or stakeholders.
- Review and analyze project scope along with all drawings and specifications.
- Monitor project costs and revise estimates as required.
- Provide cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project meetings and provide cost-related inputs and recommendations.
- Maintain and update cost databases for materials, labour rates, and market trends.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and assist in contract negotiations.
- Conduct site visits to assess project feasibility and collect data.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams.
- Identify risks and cost-saving opportunities in project requirements.
- Use specialized estimating software for cost preparation.
- Coordinate with Planning Engineer to prepare high-level schedules for proposals.
- Share BOQs with Quantity Surveyors for departmental distribution.
- Upon project award, initiate coordination with all departments for project documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Skills & Requirements
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in Estimation
- Strong knowledge of materials and market pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of construction methods, standards, and practices.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Experience in preparing bids for large-scale civil projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to visit project sites during tendering stage.
