Role overview

Designs, builds, tests, implements, optimizes, and supports Epic Hospital Billing or Professional Billing applications.

Partners with revenue cycle, patient financial services, finance, clinical operations, and IT teams to support workflows, system functionality, and compliance.

Serves as an application subject matter expert and supports system integrity, process improvement, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.

Application support and implementation

  • Configure and optimize Epic HB or PB modules; translate business requirements into system designs and technical solutions.
  • Build, test, validate, and deploy applications; troubleshoot issues, defects, and user concerns.
  • Participate in implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and optimization projects; prepare plans, timelines, test scripts, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Epic representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders and support change management and adoption.

Revenue cycle and user support

  • Support billing, claims, reimbursement, charge capture, and payment posting workflows; assist with revenue integrity and denial reduction.
  • Evaluate processes and system performance and recommend improvements to revenue-cycle outcomes.
  • Maintain system and workflow documentation and follow organizational standards and Epic best practices.
  • Provide end-user consultation, training, and support and liaise between business units and IT.

Required qualifications

  • Three years supporting healthcare information systems.
  • One year working with system integrations, interfaces, or technical support processes.
  • Related bachelor's degree or four years of related experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Epic certification in a technical application or ability to attain assigned-module certification within the timeframe set at hire.
  • Successful completion of the required Sphinx Assessment.

Preferred qualifications

  • One year of healthcare revenue-cycle, billing, claims management, or patient accounting experience is preferred.
  • One year supporting Epic applications in healthcare is preferred.

Work environment

  • Hybrid work environment with at least 25% onsite presence to support operational and business needs.
  • May require additional hours, including evenings and weekends, onsite go-live support, and occasional work-related travel, including travel outside the state.
  • May travel between facilities and attend Epic training, certification, and project meetings.
