Role purpose

Teaching and assessment

• Develop curriculum and lessons aligned with subject standards, learning objectives, school values, and Qatari culture.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse student needs and use technology and varied resources to promote active, student-led learning.
• Assess learning, adapt instruction, track progress, and provide timely, clear feedback and reports.
• Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, growth mindset, real-life learning, and student ownership of learning.

Classroom, communication, and student support

• Establish safe, respectful, inclusive classroom expectations and support individual student needs.
• Communicate with students, parents, colleagues, and stakeholders about progress, assignments, concerns, and school matters.
• Support students’ academic and personal well-being and collaborate with school support services.
• Use school portals and communication platforms, including email, iSams, CPOMS, and Class Dojo, to share information and resources.

Professional and community contribution

• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, student welfare, and school policies; report concerns through required channels.
• Stay current with curriculum and teaching practice, participate in professional development and quality assurance, and reflect on practice.
• Promote school and Qatari values and contribute to events, extracurricular activities, meetings, and the wider school community.
• Align teaching materials and assessments with Qatari MOE ethics and cultural expectations.

Education and certification

• Bachelor’s degree in teaching from an accredited institution and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
• Degree subject must be on the approved list from the Ministry of Education.
• Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE and school professional teacher education requirements.

Skills and knowledge

• English is mandatory; strong written and spoken English communication is required.
• Knowledge of assessment methods, curriculum developments, effective teaching practice, and individual learning needs.
• Competence in behavior management, safeguarding and child welfare, computer applications, data collection, record keeping, and report preparation.
• Strong communication, presentation, organization, collaboration, professionalism, and deadline-management skills.
• Willingness to undertake appropriate professional development.

School setting

• Teaching role at Durham School for Girls in Doha, Qatar; duties include classroom teaching and in-person participation in school activities.
