Role overview
Lead an engineering design team developing new products in accordance with the Product Development Process, Husky Standards, and Stage Gate.
Estimate effort and cost and ensure delivery meets time, cost, and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Guide product definition, specifications, scoping, voice-of-customer work, concept development, evaluation, and recommendations.
- Mitigate risks through past service issue research, risk identification, and formal DFMEA.
- Oversee system-level design, engineering analysis, design execution, validation planning, design documentation, and product release preparation.
- Coach and develop team members through goals, mentoring, performance management, development planning, and hiring.
- Foster innovation and open communication across the team and disciplines.
- Develop project and resource plans; manage budgets, status, timelines, and mitigation actions.
- Communicate team status to management and facilitate weekly design reviews and planning sessions.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Service; drive continuous improvement using metrics and root cause analysis.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Product Development Process, Stage Gate, Husky Standards, and quality function deployment.
- Strong knowledge of a supporting discipline, Husky products, and the customer base.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, hands-on design experience, solid design engineering skills, and proven leadership experience.
- Strong project and time management, delegation, decision-making, communication, integrity, flexibility, and team development skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or 5 to 10 years of equivalent professional experience.
- Previous project management experience is an asset.
