Amazon is hiring building technicians to support its data centers.
The technician oversees maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life-safety equipment and provides technical support for data center operations.
Equipment supporting mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Responsibilities
- Maintain electrical, mechanical, and fire/life-safety equipment, including generators, fuel systems, switchboards, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, air-handling and cooling equipment, pumps, motors, variable-frequency drives, and building automation systems.
- Respond to electrical and mechanical issues that affect Amazon service availability.
- Drive innovation while reducing facility operating costs.
Basic qualifications
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to bend or twist into unusual positions, manipulate small wires and objects, walk on uneven job-site terrain, and work at heights and from ladders.
- Must obtain and maintain an active Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 4 years of data center engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of network design and layout and low-voltage copper or fiber cabling.
- Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the day without becoming overly tired.
