Engineering Manager

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering Department across both properties and oversee daily building-system operation and maintenance.
• Develop preventive maintenance programmes and ensure timely corrective maintenance and repairs.
• Supervise and develop engineering colleagues; plan schedules, allocate resources and manage priorities.
• Monitor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and life-safety systems.
• Ensure hotel, regulatory, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
• Manage budgets, operating expenses, contractors and service agreements; maintain maintenance and inspection records.
• Support energy, water and waste reduction; coordinate with hotel departments, contractors, suppliers and authorities.
• Respond to emergencies and breakdowns; support refurbishment and capital projects and maintain safe, functional hotel areas.

Qualifications

• Previous Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer experience in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water systems, boilers, kitchen equipment and general building maintenance.
• Strong preventive maintenance, facilities-management, safety and environmental knowledge.
• Leadership, communication, team-development, organization and prioritization skills; practical, hands-on approach.
• Budgeting, procurement and contractor-management experience; flexible hours and emergency response may be required.
• Multi-property engineering experience is an advantage. Relevant technical or engineering qualifications are preferred.
