Lead the Recommend team, which includes software engineers, data analysts, designers, and other collaborators.
The team builds referral platforms, onboarding experiences, and reward mechanisms.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and mentor engineers and support team hiring and development.
- Shape the roadmap and technical and product vision with the Product Manager.
- Own the strategy and delivery of a scalable, resilient referral and word-of-mouth platform, with hands-on contribution as needed.
- Enable flexible incentive campaigns and smooth journeys for referred customers.
- Ensure effective resourcing, planning, delivery, engineering quality, team health, and productivity.
- Partner with Marketing, Regional, and product teams on market-specific incentives and campaigns.
- Support reuse of platform and tooling across the wider Scalable Growth space.
- Understand systems deeply and participate in the critical-services on-call rotation.
What you need
- Proven experience leading and mentoring software engineers.
- Strong product and customer mindset and experience building customer-facing products.
- Experience partnering with product managers in discovery, validation, and long-term product planning.
- Strong expertise or background in Java or similar object-oriented languages and modern technology stacks; comfortable working hands-on in code.
- Experience working with frontend and/or mobile engineers.
- Experience with scalable distributed systems, event-driven and asynchronous architectures, microservices, and system decoupling.
- Experience with user virality and complex user interactions is an advantage.
- Proactive approach and experience improving team ways of working.

- The role is based in the London office.
