Engineer, Telecom Maintenance (Elect Maint Sn - Habshan 5 & Sulphur)

Job purpose

Maintenance and technical delivery

• Advise on routine, predictive, and preventive maintenance of plant telecom systems in support of operations and HSE policies.
• Personally perform specialized or complex telecom system repairs and maintenance.
• Prepare maintenance programs, direct implementation, review equipment performance, and control maintenance costs.
• Plan, schedule, execute, and supervise preventive and predictive maintenance and troubleshooting for safe, reliable operations.
• Inspect task progress, report on job quality and timing, and monitor availability of tools, equipment, and parts.
• Prepare spare, tool, and material lists and purchase or material requisitions; check incoming material specifications and suitability.

Projects, design, and technology

• Prepare capital, EOM, MM, and operating budgets and five-year business plans; monitor expenditure against budget.
• Develop conceptual studies and requirements for new projects and support consistent, compatible design and engineering.
• Review and approve designs for telecom, radio, public address and general alarm, CCTV, structured cabling, and plant access systems.
• Identify, evaluate, select, and test new telecom and network technologies for business needs.
• Coordinate construction installations, witness factory and site acceptance tests and commissioning, and verify compliance with specifications.
• Deliver minor upgrade projects through handover, following standards and procedures and applying cost-effective solutions and value engineering.
• Review telecom project activities undertaken by project teams, consultants, FEED engineers, and EPC contractors.
• Plan telecom and surveillance modifications, expansions, and installations; review user requirements, recommend system scope, estimate costs, and support service agreement preparation and negotiation.

Network coordination

• Coordinate with the Telecommunications Team and TRA on radio interference, new radio equipment approvals, and licensing.
• Liaise with Etisalat and Du on network equipment and link abnormalities; coordinate testing and repair until network service is restored.
• Investigate network failures, particularly involving network media, communication links, and PABXs, and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Six years of experience managing telecom engineering services in a large industrial organization; oil and gas experience is preferred.
• Good knowledge and experience in industrial telecommunications.
• Experience guiding technicians in testing and troubleshooting telecom, CCTV, PAGA, plant access control, and cable network systems.
• Experience using MAXIMO to plan, schedule, and analyze work orders.
• Experience supervising subordinate and contractor activities.
• Planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, checking, examining, and recording skills; ability to work with tools and technology.
