Role purpose

Supports carbon management and decarbonization activities across ADNOC Gas.

Maintains emissions data, abatement initiatives, forecasts, technical records, calculations, and documentation for the decarbonization roadmap.

Provides technical and analytical support for GHG assessments, renewable energy, carbon capture, energy efficiency, flaring and fugitive-emissions reduction, LCA, Product Carbon Footprint, and CBAM readiness.

Works under the guidance of carbon management leadership and coordinates with internal stakeholders on data, analysis, records, and reporting.

Roadmap and emissions management

  • Compile emissions data, abatement assumptions, project inputs, and records for decarbonization roadmap updates.
  • Maintain assigned abatement-register information, including project status, potential, assumptions, dependencies, and evidence.
  • Collect data on operating assets, growth projects, production forecasts, and emissions-reduction initiatives.
  • Prepare calculations, summaries, trend analysis, and documentation for abated and unabated emissions profiles.
  • Maintain records of inherent CO₂ sources, emissions profiles, and asset-level data.
  • Coordinate with HSE, Operations, and asset teams to obtain emissions and production data.
  • Prepare draft charts, tables, summaries, and working files for management reporting.

Project assessments

  • Support GHG assessments for brownfield, greenfield, and growth projects by compiling project data, assumptions, and technical inputs.
  • Evaluate low-carbon options involving power supply, fuel selection, steam systems, utility integration, electrification, and process optimization.
  • Prepare calculations and comparison tables on emissions impacts and abatement potential.
  • Flag project data gaps, assumptions, risks, and matters needing technical review.
  • Prepare project GHG notes, dashboards, and presentations; coordinate CAPEX, OPEX, emissions, and technical data collection.

Renewables, carbon capture, and efficiency

  • Assess renewable energy opportunities, including solar PV, solar CSP, solar thermal, and hybrid options.
  • Compile site data on available space, asset demand, utilities, GIS inputs, constraints, and emissions-reduction potential.
  • Screen renewable options and prepare data sheets, calculations, comparisons, feasibility inputs, and progress updates.
  • Track carbon-capture opportunities and records of inherent CO₂ sources, volumes, concentrations, locations, and potential capture options.
  • Screen capture opportunities from boilers, heaters, gas turbines, and other major stationary sources; support studies with technical information and documentation.
  • Maintain records of energy-efficiency initiatives that contribute to GHG emissions reduction.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering; Environmental Science; Sustainability; Carbon Management; Energy Management; or another relevant field.
  • At least 5–7 years of relevant experience in GHG or carbon management, sustainability, energy management, process or project engineering, environmental reporting, or a related technical function.

Knowledge and skills

  • Working knowledge of GHG accounting, emissions baselining and forecasting, abatement tracking, and carbon management concepts.
  • Experience supporting emissions calculations, data analysis, reporting, dashboards, technical studies, or decarbonization and sustainability deliverables.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas facilities, process systems, utilities, power, fuel, steam, flaring, and emissions sources.
  • Able to collect, organize, validate, and analyze technical data and prepare clear charts, tables, dashboards, summaries, and draft technical reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data management tools; Power BI or similar dashboarding tools are preferred.
  • Exposure to renewable energy, carbon capture, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, methane management, LCA, Product Carbon Footprint, or CBAM is preferred.
  • GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CEM, LCA/Product Carbon Footprint, carbon management, climate change, sustainability, Power BI, data analytics, or project management training or certification is preferred or desirable.
