QUALIFICATIONS *

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a strong thermal/fluid, energy and/or controls background strongly preferred.
  • CEM certification & Professional Engineer (Ontario) designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in energy or HVAC design and/or contracting.
  • Experience with energy saving performance contracting projects preferred but not required.
  • Project Management – skilled in processes and procedures to manage a cross-functional team and meet project deadlines.
  • Technical Acumen – primarily in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing related scopes. Secondarily in Architectural, Structural and Civil related scopes. Knowledge of general construction, energy conservation, design, applicable codes and standards. Ability to work with outside contractors and engineering consultants
  • Sales/Business Acumen – general understanding and awareness of the business, financial and political factors is required to support the sales team by developing a project that can be sold.
  • Team oriented leader with strong organizational and people skills
  • Highly skilled in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and or projects at once. Ability to effectively delegate tasks when workload requires.
  • Ability to innovate and creatively embrace new technology
  • Professionalism, integrity, work ethic and ability to build strong client relationships are paramount to success.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Visio and other design and management software.
  • Familiarity with utility tariffs, utility bill analysis and energy rebate programs preferred.
  • Ability to work regularly and dependably as well as function in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate in an Agile team environment and support lean business practices
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required, including some travel up to 25% within Ontario and Atlantic Canada with occasional overnight stays.
  • Demonstrated experience in renewable asset development, microgrid, cogeneration, renewable energy, energy storage, Net Zero and/or emerging technologies is considered beneficial.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
  • DUI in the previous 5 years
  • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
