ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Role

Qualifications and experience

• Engineering diploma in the relevant discipline (12+3 years).
• At least 6 years of relevant hands-on experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or fertilizer industry.
• Working-level English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
• Familiarity with hazardous industrial materials and safe installation and maintenance practices.

Electrical systems and technical skills

• Work covers HV/MV/LV transformers, switchboards, switchgear, cables, MCCs, motors, PLCs, VFDs, UPS systems, lighting, cathodic protection, hoists, and flare electrical systems.
• Familiarity with PLCs, motor protection relays, feeder protection relays, and other electrical control and protection systems.
• Able to use and maintain related testing and calibration instruments, including multimeter and insulation tester (Megger).
• SAP EAM work-order experience is preferred.

Maintenance duties

• Maintain and modify electrical equipment and carry out basic repairs of equipment and power circuits.
• Assist with troubleshooting complex electrical problems and breakdowns.
• Read and interpret machine sketches, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and diagnostic flow charts.
• Maintain records in a computerized maintenance management system.

Safety and procedures

• Know large-industry permit-to-work systems and pass company PTW and authorization assessments after training.
• Know LOTO and oil and gas plant safety and environmental practices; maintain a good HSEQ record.
• Comply with company Life Saving Rules and applicable Integrated Management System procedures, including occupational safety, quality, environment, responsible care, product stewardship, and energy management.
• Follow QAFCO safety requirements and company maintenance and HSEQ policies, procedures, and regulations.
