Electrical BIM Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit and other BIM tools.
• Create parametric families and components for fixtures, panels, and equipment.
• Generate shop drawings, schematics, and layouts from BIM models.
• Support project workflows and timelines using BIM technology.
• Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Incorporate revisions based on design changes, RFIs, and site feedback.
• Support 4D scheduling and quantity take-offs when required.
• Work with the BIM Manager or Coordinator to uphold company BIM standards.
• Maintain version control and documentation for BIM files and outputs.

Qualifications and skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit for the electrical discipline is required.
• Strong understanding of lighting, power, ELV, grounding, and other electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of BIM processes, LOD, COBie, standards, and documentation workflows.
• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field; the education field separately lists a bachelor's degree as preferred.
• At least three years of relevant industry experience is stated in the qualifications; the experience field separately lists three years as preferred.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, detailing, and architectural design principles.
• Experience with international building codes and standards.
• Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM coordination tools are a plus.
• Point cloud modeling or Scan-to-BIM familiarity is advantageous.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
