Division Head - Expediting (Shipyard)

Role overview

Key accountabilities

• Verify supplier purchase order acknowledgments and assess delivery dates, deliverables, and inspection activities.
• Develop expediting strategies and follow-up plans for critical purchase orders; plan field visits and prepare meeting minutes.
• Advise Purchasing on preferred Incoterms and payment milestone structures.
• Coordinate package dossier submissions and expedite missing or delayed documents and drawings.
• Conduct weekly expediting, OSD, and ESR meetings and monitor readiness of supply for critical packages.
• Monitor manufacturers' schedules, identify delivery risks, and propose mitigation actions or alternatives.
• Maintain ERP records, collect progress reports, track meeting actions, and support project planning and forecasting.
• Develop recovery plans with suppliers and project teams when deliveries slip.
• Coordinate goods receipt posting, logistics arrangements, payments, and OSD closure.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the team; oversee workload distribution, performance, and capability building.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or an equivalent discipline.
• 12–18 years of relevant experience in expediting, procurement, or supply chain roles, with prior leadership or supervisory experience.
• Shipyard, marine, EPC, or heavy industrial experience is preferred.

Skills and competencies

• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
• Understanding of Incoterms, payment terms, and commercial or contractual conditions.
• Supplier relationship management, negotiation, analytical problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
• Leadership and team management skills, including mentoring and developing expediting staff.
• Ability to manage multiple critical priorities and competing demands under tight schedules.
