Director of Architecture (Concept Focus)

I’m currently working with a well established international architectural consultancy in Dubai that is looking to appoint a Director of Architecture to help establish and lead their concept design team across the region.

This is a senior leadership position within a business delivering large scale mixed use, hospitality, commercial and residential developments across the Middle East and internationally.

They are looking for somebody with a strong conceptual design background who still enjoys being heavily involved in the creative side of projects, rather than somebody who has spent too long removed from design operating purely in a management capacity.

The role will play a key part in shaping the direction of the studio’s architectural offering moving forward. You will be responsible for helping build and develop the concept team, leading design direction across major projects, mentoring architects and designers, and working closely with senior leadership and clients across the region.

This position would suit somebody currently operating at Associate, Associate Director, Design Director or Director level within a recognised international architecture practice or highly regarded regional consultancy who is looking for the opportunity to become a significant long term senior leader within a growing business.

Requirements:

• Strong portfolio spanning large scale mixed use, hospitality, commercial and residential developments

• Proven concept design and early stage masterplanning experience

• Experience leading and mentoring architectural teams

• Strong client facing, presentation and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to oversee projects from concept through to design development

• Experience working within a recognised international architecture practice or major regional consultancy

• Strong design ability with credibility in the market and the ability to help elevate the studio’s architectural offering

• Previous Middle East experience preferred
