DataBricks - Data Engineering

This Technical Lead L1 position at Wipro Technologies within the TS - Applied AI & Data unit is designed for an experienced professional specializing in DataBricks and data engineering. The role is pivotal in driving the development, review, and refinement of module-specific application solutions that align with business goals and technological standards.

The successful candidate will lead efforts to craft scalable, efficient code, support cross-functional teams through expert technical guidance, and implement robust solutions that meet evolving market and client needs. This role demands a blend of hands-on technical acumen, analytical problem-solving, and collaborative leadership to ensure seamless integration and deployment of data solutions.

In this capacity, the individual will operate at the intersection of software development life cycle phases—spanning requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment—ensuring deliverables are stable, well-documented, and aligned with project roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake.

Build CDC, batch, and streaming ingestion frameworks for enterprise-scale workloads.

Implement and manage Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

Develop governance solutions using Unity Catalog, including row-level security, data masking, and fine-grained access controls.

Build and maintain Data Quality, Monitoring, and Observability frameworks.

Implement CI/CD pipelines using Databricks Asset Bundles (DABS), Git, and Infrastructure as Code.

Optimize Databricks clusters, SQL Warehouses, and workloads for performance and cost efficiency.

Enable self-service analytics through semantic layers, metric views, governed datasets, and certified data products.

Partner with platform, security, analytics, and business teams to drive adoption of Databricks capabilities.

Participate in architecture discussions, platform modernization initiatives, and stakeholder workshops.

Extensive experience (5-8 years) in data engineering with a strong emphasis on DataBricks platform technologies.

Proficient knowledge of software development lifecycle processes with hands-on experience in coding, testing, and deploying scalable data applications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on root cause investigations and resolution in complex distributed systems.

Exceptional communication skills enabling effective collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.

Demonstrable ability to work in a client-centric environment, driving passionate, results-oriented execution.
