Data Solutions Specialist

About the role

What you will do

• Deploy and configure database, streaming, and processing components.
• Build scheduled and event-driven ingestion pipelines, including change data capture where needed.
• Transform raw data into curated datasets for analytical use and implement automated data quality validation.
• Register metadata, lineage, and access in the catalogue and enable analyst and data science access.
• Collaborate with platform and DevOps consultants on infrastructure-as-code and pipeline deployment practices.
• Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect on data modeling and ontology for the priority domain.
• Understand business objectives, build end-to-end data solutions, and optimize pipeline performance.
• Use sound coding practices, report status, and help project leads resolve blockers.

What you need

• At least 5 years designing or maintaining data pipelines, transformations, medallion-layer solutions, or data models.
• Experience as a data engineer building scalable data platforms.
• Experience with at least one leading cloud provider or open-source technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Presto, Hive, or Cassandra.
• Experience with two of Java, Scala, and Python.
• Bachelor's degree or completed college program in computer science or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in data architecture and pipeline implementation is required; advanced streaming architecture proficiency is recommended.
• English is required for regular interaction with stakeholders across Canada, the United States, and other countries.

Bonus qualifications

• Production implementation and real-time analytics experience are bonuses, as is experience with both batch and stream processing.
• Machine learning experience with Spark or similar is a bonus.
• Cloud Data Engineer or Data Solution Architect certification is a bonus; Secret Clearance eligibility is preferred.
• Ability to manage concurrent requests, prioritize, and deliver is listed as a bonus.

Work arrangement

• The role is hybrid.

Compensation

• The listed annual salary range is $75,400 to $125,400 for British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick; compensation varies by location, role, skills, and experience.
• The recruiting effort is intended to fill a brand-new position.
