Data & Bi Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and operate a modern ELT/ETL pipeline ingesting data from internal systems and external market data sources (Kpler, Platts/S&P Global, OPIS, Bloomberg, Argus)
• Build and maintain a central commodity data
• Develop interactive dashboards and reports for price analysis, spreads, cargo flows, and margin calculations
• Implement concrete business use cases in close collaboration with Trading, Operations, and Commercial teams — examples include crack spread monitoring, cargo tracking, refinery margin analysis, and storage economics
• Ensure data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and documentation across all data sources and pipelines
• Translate business requirements into working analytics quickly, iterating with stakeholders to refine outputs
• Evaluate and recommend additional data sources, tools, and integrations as the platform grows

Required Experience

• Solid experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, or in a comparable role
• Strong SQL skills; Python proficiency for data pipelines, automation, and analysis (pandas, SQLAlchemy, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or Superset
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts — star schema, dimensional modeling, dbt, or equivalent
• Experience with or strong interest in commodity markets, ideally oil and refined products
• Knowledge of commodity market data providers (Kpler, Platts, OPIS, Argus, Bloomberg) is a significant plus
• Comfortable owning the full journey from raw requirement to finished, production-ready dashboard
• Strong communicator — able to work with both technical peers and non-technical traders or commercial staff
• Fluent in English, Russian
• Nice to have:
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar)
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar)
• Experience in an energy trading, commodity house, or data-heavy financial environment
