Data Analytics Specialist

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop R and Python scripts and applications, including with web frameworks, for internal audit and counter-fraud and investigation activities.
• Produce and present analytical reports and visualizations for agency colleagues and customers.
• Document and maintain code and collaborate using tools such as DevOps and Git.
• Improve scripts, packages, pipelines, applications, and quality assurance processes.
• Train and upskill the data analytics network and promote analytics across the agency.
• Investigate new approaches with government and private-sector data teams.
• Use LLMs and AI models in analysis and develop tools for safe and effective AI use.
• Research innovative techniques and apply them to improve agency efficiency.

Person specification

• Experience interpreting customer needs and conducting advanced data analytics using R or Python.
• Communicate complex analysis clearly to non-specialists.
• Connect business problems to analytical solutions and work with others to implement them.
• Strong organisation and experience managing multiple concurrent projects at pace.
• Build strong stakeholder and customer relationships.
• Experience in at least two listed areas: Quarto outputs, R or Python web applications, AI products, Azure environments, or business-critical models.

Work location

• Employees are expected to maintain a regular presence at their contractual designated work location.
• Travel to other agency locations or client sites may be required for critical meetings and field assignments.
• The contractual location must be one of the advertised locations and within reasonable daily commuting distance.

Salary and benefits

• The description lists salary ranges, including a separate London range, and a Civil Service Pension with a 28.97% employer contribution.
