Minimum Qualifications

  • High school education plus a minimum of five to seven years of relevant work experience (custodial or housekeeping) or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Supervisory experience preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing commercial/institutional custodial/housekeeping operations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven record of accountability and follow-through with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Basic reading, math (addition, subtraction) and writing skills
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, and online data management).
  • Abilities
  • Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of individuals/groups within and outside of the university.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings to manage unplanned custodial or housekeeping needs.
  • Essential Physical Demands
  • Requires the ability to lift and move supplies, equipment and furniture (up to 50 pounds)
  • Requires the ability to access certain areas of the building and supplies by climbing stairs and ladders
  • Requires a full range of motion in order to operate manual and electronically-powered cleaning equipment and machines to include snow shovels.
  • Ability to bend and turn to pick up, place and move furniture, supplies and equipment.
  • Employees in this job classification are designated as essential employees and must report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather.
