Role Objective
The Cost Engineer owns project cost control on a major capital projects portfolio.
The role manages budgets, processes contractor invoices, tracks expenditure against baseline, and delivers data-driven cost reports, KPIs, and dashboards that give project leadership a clear view of financial performance and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage project budgets and cost plans across all phases.
Review and process contractor progress invoices, payment certificates, and accruals.
Monitor expenditure against baseline, prepare monthly cash-flow forecasts, and report variances with root-cause analysis.
Track project performance using earned-value indicators, assess the cost impact of variation orders and delays, and recommend corrective actions.
Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, KPIs, and management reports that turn cost data into actionable decisions for senior management.
Support project teams with financial evaluations and ensure consistent cost-engineering practices across the portfolio.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of practical cost-control or cost-engineering experience on large-scale construction or industrial projects.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is required.
- AACE CCP (Certified Cost Professional) is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Proven hands-on experience building Power BI dashboards and developing project KPIs.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP for invoice and cost transactions.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 for cost-loaded schedule integration.
- Solid command of cost-estimation and project-management software.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and clear written reporting in English.
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and translate raw cost data into insights for decision-makers.
Working Arabic is preferred.
