The Control Software Designer is part of the Development Engineering team.
The role designs, supports, and troubleshoots control systems for injection molding machines and mold controllers.
The work focuses on developing solutions to complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design machine and mold-controller systems, including servo drive, servo-hydraulic, and injection molding process controls.
- Create functional and design specifications and validation plans for new functionality.
- Develop machine sequences, process control, and Windows-based HMI software.
- Troubleshoot and debug real-time and non-real-time software.
- Document software changes using tools such as TFS/VSTS and Azure DevOps.
- Document development, design changes, and production design activities.
- Communicate designs with other design groups and businesses.
Experience and technical qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical and Electronics, ECE, Instrumentation, Software Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
- At least 5 years of hands-on automated control system design and troubleshooting experience is preferred.
- PLC Structured Text programming using IEC 61131-3 and high-level programming for HMI applications are specified.
- Knowledge of PC-based and embedded control systems, control theory, model-based design, PLCs, and motion controllers is specified.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols is specified.
- EPLAN, Beckhoff TwinCAT3, and VSTS development environment experience are listed.
- Machine development with Beckhoff, Siemens, GE, ABB, or Allen Bradley products is preferred.
- Agile and Test Driven Development experience, AI familiarity, and strong English proficiency are listed.
