Consultant Oral Surgeon

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with oral and maxillofacial conditions.
• Perform surgical procedures including:
• Impacted tooth and wisdom tooth extractions
• Dental implant placement
• Bone grafting procedures
• Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery)
• Treatment of oral pathology and cysts
• Facial trauma and reconstructive procedures
• Evaluate patients using diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, and other radiographic techniques.
• Administer local anesthesia, sedation, and coordinate general anesthesia when required.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Manage postoperative care and address any complications that may arise.
• Collaborate with general dentists, orthodontists, prosthodontists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and patient safety standards.
• Stay updated with advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery through continuing education and professional development.

Requirements

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Specialized training and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Board Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical experience as an Oral Surgeon.
• Proficiency in dental implantology, oral surgery, and facial trauma management.
• Strong knowledge of oral pathology, anatomy, and surgical techniques.
• Excellent communication and patient management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
