Overview

Key Accountabilities

• Project Oversight: Manage the entire lifecycle of the assigned area of the construction projects, ensuring optimal planning, coordination, and resource utilisation, working with the Project Manager and PMT team.
• Cost Control: Review projects in-depth to schedule deliverables, estimate costs, and monitor expenditures against the budget.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all onsite and offsite construction regulations regarding building safety and environmental standards.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate and direct activities of construction workers, site personnel, and subcontractors, ensuring efficient collaboration across all project facets.
• Contractual Compliance: Meet all contractual conditions, closely adhering to project plans and delivery schedules.
• Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct daily reviews of work progress and prepare detailed reports on the project status, comparing planned versus actual achievements.
• Risk Management: Analyse, manage, and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing potential issues and resolving emergent problems.
• PMT Support: Assist the Project Management Team in negotiations, drafting official communications, and obtaining necessary permits and licenses.
• Resource Management: Lead all work groups, ensuring they have the required resources (manpower, equipment, materials) to maintain productivity in line with project demands.
• Quality Control: Maintain high construction standards and oversee the implementation of proper construction techniques inline with the Quality Standards.
• KPIs: Utilize project KPIs to make tactical decisions for resource allocation and staff assignments.
• Onboarding: Conduct onboarding and induction for new department team members.
• Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all project-related documents and ensure team familiarity.
• HSE Enforcement: Administer and enforce established health, safety, and environmental policies across all project areas using the In Safe Management system.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is essential. Advanced degrees or certifications such as a Master's in Project Management or Construction Management are beneficial.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience:
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management or a related role, with proven experience overseeing large-scale construction projects from conception to completion.
• Leadership Experience: Experience in leading, managing, and directing project teams including construction workers, subcontractors, and site personnel.
• Regulatory and Compliance Experience: Hands-on experience ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building and safety regulations.
• Knowledge:
• Construction Procedures and Standards: Deep understanding of construction methods, technologies, and practices. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and permit requirements.
• Project Management: Strong knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools, including risk management, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Technical Understanding: Familiarity with architectural drawings, engineering design, and construction specifications. Proficient in reading and interpreting complex documents like BOQs, blueprints, and technical plans.
• Legal and Contractual: Knowledge of construction law, contract administration, and workplace safety.
• Sustainability and Quality Control: Awareness of sustainability practices in construction and quality control measures that align with industry standards.
• Skills:
• Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and mentor diverse teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for negotiating with stakeholders and preparing reports.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems, make decisions under pressure, and manage unforeseen challenges.
• Organizational: Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on quality or efficiency.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with project management software (like MS Project, Primavera) and common office software (like MS Office Suite). Knowledge of CAD software is also advantageous.
• Interpersonal: Effective interpersonal skills to handle conflicts and negotiations while maintaining strong professional relationships with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
