IBM Software develops cloud-native products and describes Confluent Cloud as a platform for streaming data infrastructure based on Apache Kafka.
The role supports infrastructure services that power Confluent Cloud across large-scale, multi-region environments.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and evolve Go-based internal infrastructure services, often as Kubernetes operators.
- Operate secure, scalable, observable, and reliable cloud infrastructure systems.
- Use GitOps, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Linux, networking, and public cloud technologies.
- Enable fast, safe, and autonomous deployment of services through shared platform tooling.
- Support infrastructure availability, performance, monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning.
- Work across tens of thousands of instances and multiple regions.
- Influence the architecture and operational strategy of critical cloud infrastructure.
- Participate in an eight-hour follow-the-sun on-call rotation.
Required Technical Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python, including reading, debugging, and evolving existing code.
- Deep understanding of filesystems, memory, networking, kernel behavior, and large-scale system performance.
- Production experience with Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native ecosystems, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Expertise in GitOps, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, automation, and reliability practices.
- Experience diagnosing and improving complex systems.
- Ability to collaborate, communicate, take ownership, and work independently in a distributed team.
Preferred Education
- A Master's degree is preferred.
Work Pattern
- The role includes participation in an eight-hour follow-the-sun on-call rotation.
