Role overview

AirQ seeks an early-career Communications & RF Engineer for its R&D team.

The engineer will design, test, and optimize secure, long-range communication systems for UAV operations and own RF and datalink performance across the platform.

The role spans concept development, prototype build, and serial production releases, with close cross-functional collaboration.

RF systems development and integration

  • Design and validate RF systems, antennas, and data links.
  • Optimize link budget, signal stability, throughput, and interference mitigation.
  • Integrate and support encrypted communication systems.
  • Conduct RF analysis, tuning, and troubleshooting across environments.
  • Perform range tests and real-world communication performance evaluations.

Prototype and production support

  • Support hands-on prototyping, provide integration guidance, and resolve issues in real time.
  • Coordinate with electrical, electronic hardware, and integration teams on electronics and electrical integration data for platform integration.

Validation and documentation

  • Develop validation and test plans to verify integrated products against design requirements.
  • Support Flight Operations in developing and executing test programs.
  • Support physical testing, record observations, and analyze results against acceptance criteria.
  • Write technical reports and presentations for design reviews and project milestones.

Required experience and education

  • Strong background in RF engineering, telecommunications, or electronics.
  • Understanding of wireless communication systems and modulation techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with RF testing equipment and tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience designing or operating UAV communication links is preferred.

Working style

  • The employer seeks someone curious about how complex systems fit together and willing to collaborate to solve complex challenges.
  • Candidates should take ownership, follow issues through to resolution, document work thoroughly, and be comfortable in a dynamic environment where requirements evolve.

Opportunity

  • The role offers the opportunity to develop mission-critical RF systems and influence platform performance in a fast-paced engineering culture.
