Qualifications

  • Education: Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field such as Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or similar, and five years of relevant experience; or,
  • Diploma or Certificate in a relevant field such as Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or similar, and four years of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working in, or with media or in a public relations/corporate and communications environment.
  • Demonstrated experience handling communications for a corporate or public sector program.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating day-to-day communications services, including preparation of sensitive information materials, presentations, backgrounders, etc. with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated experience writing correspondence, articles, web stories or marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated experience with report set-up, desktop publication and graphic design.
  • Demonstrated experience in web design and/or social media programs.

  • Communicating Effectively The ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and appropriately to the intended audience. Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of strategic initiatives and projects within tight timeframes. Activities are often subject to significant public, political and industry scrutiny.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments across the BCER to develop content, such as stories for the external website, and identifying opportunities for further communications.
  • Maintain alignment with brand guidelines, voice and adherence to graphic standards.
  • Report preparation (layout, graphics, editing and proofing), for external audiences.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations and templates, including creating, editing, and proofing, for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop graphic material and graphic design treatment for presentations, social media and reports.
  • Create, review and edit guidance documents, reports, brochures, fact sheets.
  • Respond to incoming public information requests.
  • Support Public Relations Management, including News Releases, technical writing, researching issues, and the creation of fact sheets, brochures, FAQs, cards and posters.
  • Support web design and social media programs, including graphics and written posts.
  • Other responsibilities and related duties as required.

  • The ability to systematically analyze problems, identify root causes, evaluate potential solutions, and make sound decisions to address challenges and achieve desired outcomes.
