Do you love the Lake District?
Are you looking for flexible hours in a beautiful location?
Are you looking to spend time to enjoy an amazing place?
This year we were awarded the Sustainable Team award from the Soil Association and were finalists at the Sustainable Restaurant Awards, if you are looking for a Chef position with a difference and you are enthusiastic, positive, flexible and passionate then this may be the role for you.
Nestled in the beautiful Langdale Valley it’s an adventure playground of rugged slopes, craggy summits and a cracking pint!
As the only pub managed and run by the National Trust, this isn’t a traditional pub and we do things a little differently; with fire pits, blankets, board games, mulled cider and fire cooked food.
We have an open and receptive culture where a sense of belonging and shared love of what we do lies at its heart.
We also believe in flexibility, family friendly working and a balanced approach to career and life.
What you'll be doing
With your love of food and your appetite to provide an exceptional service to your customers, you’ll work with the National Trust Cookbook framework to prepare delicious food.
You’ll always be looking to maximise income opportunities by minimising waste and controlling costs and resources.
With your attention to detail you’ll ensure each dish is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time.
To make this happen we need to ensure our kitchens are presented to the highest standard and are compliant with all relevant legislation around food hygiene and COSHH.
You will work effectively with the team to deliver great results.
You may also be required, on occasions to supervise volunteers.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone to join our dedicated team to exceed our customer’s expectations with the delicious food we prepare and serve.
You need to be;
· Confident, and have an insight into the importance of the work that the National Trust do in the Lakes and in Langdale
· Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
· A team player but also have the ability to work on your own initiative
· You will be able to work at pace at busy periods.
· Have an interest in energy saving and reducing waste
· Have a strong attention to detail
· Love using local produce
· Be happy to engage with our visitors
