Role Overview

As a Commis III at Banyan Tree Dubai, you will support the kitchen brigade with the most basic food preparation and operational tasks.

This is an entry-level position focused on learning, discipline, and building foundational kitchen skills in a structured luxury hospitality environment.

You will assist with simple preparation tasks and ensure cleanliness and readiness of the kitchen under close supervision.

Basic Kitchen Support

  • Assist with fundamental food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and simple cutting.
  • Support senior commis and chefs with mise-en-place preparation.
  • Carry out basic assigned tasks as directed by the kitchen team.
  • Help maintain readiness of workstations before, during, and after service.

Operational Assistance

  • Support movement of ingredients, equipment, and supplies within the kitchen.
  • Assist with basic cleaning duties in assigned kitchen areas.
  • Help with receiving and storing deliveries when required.
  • Ensure simple tasks are completed promptly and accurately.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

  • Follow HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and support recycling practices.
  • Report any hygiene or safety concerns immediately.

Team Support & Learning

  • Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff carefully and respectfully.
  • Observe and learn basic kitchen processes and techniques.
  • Support team members during preparation and service periods.
  • Develop understanding of kitchen discipline and operations.

Cost Awareness & Care

  • Handle ingredients and tools with care to avoid waste or damage.
  • Follow simple portioning and preparation instructions.
  • Support efficient use of resources under supervision.

Qualifications & Experience

  • No prior experience required.
  • Interest in pursuing a culinary career is essential.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene standards is an advantage.
  • Hospitality or culinary training is beneficial but not mandatory.
