Qualifications, Duties, Perks
- An Average Day: (Includes, but not limited to)
- Track admissions to ensure all admits are coded
- Review necessary information (H&P, NIA, physician notes) on all new admits and recerts for coding
- Input primary diagnosis and comorbidity codes as documented by clinical staff
- Comply with all ICD-10 and CMS guidelines
- Obtain additional documentation as needed from branch locations
- Meet coding deadlines to support timely submission of NOE
- Follow up with coding holds to ensure timely resolution
- Update diagnosis codes when needed
- Train the branch locations regarding medical coding, as needed
- Maintain effective communication with locations including timely response to emails and/or phone calls
- Assist Medical Billing Specialists in resolving coding issues for claim submission
- Must comply with company policies, procedures and processes in addition to Hospice rules and regulation
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must have a minimum two (2) years of experience in Medicare/Medicaid coding,
- Hospice experience preferred
- Coding certification from AAPC, AHIMA or equivalent, preferred
