Role Overview
CMDB Engineer role focused on maintaining ServiceNow CMDB accuracy, completeness, and stewardship.
Requires 5+ years of configuration/data-management experience including 4+ years with ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain CMDB accuracy, completeness and stewardship with Observability and service owners.
- Govern CI lifecycle, ownership and relationships; investigate duplicates/stale records and coordinate source-owner remediation.
- Maintain approved IRE/source-precedence rules rather than redesigning the platform model.
- Produce reliable ITSM/control evidence; escalate model/security decisions to Digital Workplace.
Required Skills
- CI/class and relationship maintenance.
- Imports/transform maps.
- IRE/reconciliation troubleshooting and CMDB health reporting.
- Apply CSDM concepts, ownership attestation, lifecycle controls and traceable data remediation.
- Distinguish source defects from stewardship gaps.
Key Deliverables
Stewardship/lifecycle procedures; source/owner register; reconciliation controls.
Quality baseline, remediation backlog and manager-agreed completeness/correctness/compliance measures.
Maintain agreed-scope relationships and service links; produce attestation/exception and control-ready remediation evidence.
Hand over data dictionaries, BAU runbooks and internal training with clear stewardship accountability.
Certifications & Technical Requirements
- Mandatory: current ServiceNow CSA and ITIL 4 Foundation.
- Validate credentials and applicable maintenance status before submission.
- Desirable: CIS-Discovery, Service Mapping or relevant CMDB/CSDM learning credentials.
