Role overview

Role responsibilities

• Deploy and configure database, streaming, and processing components.
• Build scheduled and event-driven ingestion pipelines, including change data capture where required.
• Develop transformation logic and business rules to curate raw data into analytical datasets.
• Implement data quality rules and automated validation across pipelines.
• Register metadata, lineage, and access in the catalogue and enable analyst and data science access.
• Collaborate with platform and DevOps consultants on infrastructure-as-code and pipeline deployment practices.
• Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect on data modelling and ontology for the priority domain.
• Understand customer objectives and build end-to-end data-centric solutions.
• Collaborate with business systems analysts to understand requirements and optimize pipeline performance.
• Build solutions using big data and data management tools; write code to quality standards.
• Provide status reporting to project managers and technical leads and help resolve blockers.

Required qualifications and experience

• At least 5 years designing and maintaining data pipelines, data transformation, medallion-layer solutions, or data modelling.
• Experience solutioning and building scalable data platforms.
• Experience with one of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with two of Java, Scala, and Python.
• Eligibility for Canadian Secret Clearance is required.
• A bachelor's degree or completed college programme in computer science or a related field.
• English is required for regular stakeholder interaction across Canada, the US, and other countries.
• Advanced proficiency in data integration and pipeline implementation is required; advanced streaming data architecture proficiency is recommended.

Bonus qualifications

• Production implementation experience for listed qualifications and production experience building real-time analytics applications are bonuses.
• Experience with batch and stream processing technologies is a bonus.
• Machine learning experience with Spark or similar is a bonus.
• Experience with Oracle or Informatica cloud services, or open-source technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Presto, Hive, or Cassandra, is a bonus.
• Data Solution Architect certification in one or more cloud technologies is a bonus.
• The ability to manage concurrent requests, prioritize, and deliver is a bonus.

Compensation

• The stated annual salary range for British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick is $75,400 to $125,400.
