Role overview

The Energy Client Director will lead and grow priority client relationships across Alberta and Western Canada, with potential support for aligned national accounts elsewhere in Canada.

The primary focus is developing clients and projects for the pipelines and natural gas facilities team.

Adjacent services are cross-sell opportunities, not the primary mandate. The role is permanent and full time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic account plans for client retention, growth, expansion, and long-term partnerships.
  • Build relationships with executive leaders, operational stakeholders, project sponsors, procurement teams, regulators, government agencies, and Indigenous-owned development organizations.
  • Represent the client's interests internally and align service delivery with client objectives.
  • Lead executive engagement, account reviews, governance meetings, and relationship development activities.
  • Identify account growth opportunities based on client investment plans, operational priorities, and market challenges.
  • Lead client development for pipeline, midstream, and natural gas facilities opportunities with technical and delivery teams.
  • Pursue cross-sell opportunities in power and electrification, carbon capture, major infrastructure, renewables, hydrogen, nuclear, and grid-related services.
  • Support project execution and client experience in collaboration with delivery teams; monitor account performance, project outcomes, client satisfaction, and relationship health.
  • Align company capabilities with client needs and facilitate integrated multidisciplinary solutions across business units.
  • Maintain account plans, relationship maps, market intelligence, sales forecasts, and opportunity pipelines through CRM systems.
  • Resolve client concerns and serve as an escalation point for strategic accounts.
  • Mentor client-facing professionals, manage client investment budgets and pursuit strategies, and represent the company at client and industry events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 15 or more years of experience in client management, strategic account leadership, business development, or growth-focused leadership in Western Canada's energy, infrastructure, engineering consulting, or professional services markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing and expanding strategic relationships with oil and gas, midstream, pipeline, and associated facilities clients in Western Canada.
  • Experience identifying cross-sell opportunities across adjacent energy and infrastructure services.

Location and focus

  • The role is primarily focused on Western Canada, especially Alberta, and may support other Canadian client relationships and projects when aligned with national account priorities.
