Role overview
The Chief Engineer leads engineering operations, maintenance, and technical initiatives.
The role oversees a team and establishes standards for safety, compliance, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Set engineering strategy and oversee daily operations, maintenance, repairs, and building-system optimization.
- Run preventive maintenance programs, manage budgets and resources, and oversee staff training and development.
- Ensure fire, life-safety, emergency, building-code, and regulatory compliance.
- Use performance metrics to improve operations and coordinate engineering priorities with other departments.
- Make strategic decisions on capital investment, system upgrades, and technical implementations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering, or equivalent professional qualification.
- At least five years of progressive relevant experience and a track record leading teams and large-scale technical operations.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent written and verbal English.
- Expertise in budget management, financial analysis, cost optimization, safety, building codes, and regulatory compliance.
- Building-systems expertise in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, or related disciplines; project management experience.
- Maintenance management software and technical documentation systems are preferred.
- Relevant engineering or safety management certification is preferred.
