Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Chief AI Officer leads and oversees the strategy and execution of the organisation's Digital, Data and AI transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with the government entity's broader digital objectives and vision. The AI Officer is the key leader and highest authority for Digital, Data and AI decision-making within the entity, providing comprehensive strategic direction to drive digital innovation and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Digital Strategy and Vision

• Set the entity's digital agenda, aligning it with the government's digital vision and emerging technologies and trends
• Collaborate and coordinate closely with central government digital teams
• Lead the development and refinement of the entity's AI and data strategies
• Oversee enterprise architecture, ensuring support for digital, data, and AI initiatives
• Manage budgeting and resource allocation for digital programmes

2. Digital Transformation Execution

• Oversee the entity's digital initiatives, including flagship projects and the digitalisation of core services
• Coordinate closely with internal IT teams on infrastructure and cloud initiatives
• Lead the deployment of innovative digital solutions, ensuring seamless end-to-end user experiences
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement across transformation programmes

3. AI and Data Enablement

• Lead the implementation of AI and data strategies and initiatives
• Oversee the prioritisation and delivery of AI and analytics use cases, including the development and deployment of AI agents and machine learning models
• Ensure robust data governance frameworks and AI ethics policies are in place|

4. Governance and Compliance

• Oversee digital governance frameworks and ensure compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI ethics regulations
• Monitor adherence to policies, managing risks and maintaining accountability across digital efforts
• Act as the highest review and escalation point for all Digital, Data and AI activities within the entity

5. Innovation and Capability Building

• Build and strengthen internal capabilities in digital, AI, and data, fostering a culture of innovation and service excellence
• Promote digital literacy and upskill employees across the organisation

6. Performance and Value Realisation

• Define and track performance metrics to ensure strategic alignment and outcome achievement
• Drive and monitor the realisation of value from digital investments

7. Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to define and drive the delivery of the Data, AI and Digital agenda
• Proactively drive alignment, integration and collaboration across key vendors and partners

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Experience

• AP or Partner level with an MBB or equivalent.
• 12+ years in digital, AI, and data programme leadership, with a proven track record in large-scale transformation, ideally in government or complex environments
• Extensive experience in setting and executing digital, data and AI strategies

Technical Knowledge

• Strong foundations in digital technologies, AI, machine learning, data management and data-driven decision making
• Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, and resource optimisation

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Demonstrated leadership, organisational, and senior-level management experience
• Advanced skills in communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Arabic speaking (nice to have)

Education

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• Master's degree or MBA with a focus on relevant domains is preferred
• Relevant Data, AI and Digital certifications are preferred
